The Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

Make the best and easiest chunky chocolate chip cookie over this long weekend!

The secret to the best chocolate chip cookie is flaked salt and using good quality chocolate. Luckily for you, we have good quality chocolate and can recommend to use Olsson’s salt available at Woolworths and Coles.

THE BEST CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE RECIPE

Makes 20 large, delicious cookies

INGREDIENTS

220g Unsalted butter
200g Caster sugar
150g Panela sugar (or use raw or brown sugar!)
1 x Egg
4g Vanilla paste
315g Plain flour
3g Baking soda
3g Baking powder
2g Cooking salt
230g Dark chocolate chunks (SHOP HERE)
For garnish, Olsson’s Smoked Salt

EQUIPMENT

Oven
Mixing bowls
Stand mixer like a Kitchenaid or Kenwood otherwise your hands can get a work out!
Oven trays
Baking paper

METHOD

  1. Soften butter in the microwave by zapping it for 30 seconds - 1 minute.

  2. In the stand mixer, combine butter, all sugars and vanilla and let it combine with the paddle attachment. If you don’t have a mixer, you can mix this by hand but it will be alot easier if you get the butter as soft as possible without fully melting it!

  3. Add the egg and let the mixture combine.

  4. Then add all the dry ingredients and your mixture is ready to go!

  5. NOTE: I like to scoop out and ball the mixture and refrigerate the mixture until the next day for the best flavour and baking outcome but if you’re pressed for time, 30 minutes in the fridge is great so you can bake from cold dough!

  6. Scoop out and roll balls and place onto a baking paper lined tray. Sprinkle flaked smoked salt ontop of these dark chocolate cookie dough balls!

  7. After your cookie dough balls have rested in the fridge, bake in a pre-heated oven at 170 degrees for 12-15 minutes.
